If your boat has one or two places where a new grab would come in, well, handy, we’d like to introduce our new suite of DIY kits. No drilling required, no need to bend tubing, kits come with all the ocean-grade stainless steel components you need to install quickly and easily.

Grab rail kits
Safety won’t wait. If you slip, or your boat moves underfoot, are you confident your hand will reach something solid and reliable?
If adding a grab rail or two would give you more peace of mind, check our our new DIY kits. We offer a variety of options to help you add a grab just about anywhere you have tubing. Choose the tubing diameter and mount type that suits you best, and we’ll send you the pieces you need to install without having to hire a professional.
Each grab rail kit contains:
- 1 x 3′ grab rail (your choice of a patented 3′ GemLock folding strut OR a 3′ length of 316 stainless tubing in your chosen size) Just cut to length and install.
- 2 x Gemini Marine Products rail mounts (your choice of sliding or split side mounts OR concave post mounts)
- 2 x eye ends in the same size as your chosen tubing
- All kits are priced at a discount on buying the components separately
Grab rails can be installed inboard or outboard of frame/tubing. They can be installed either outside/around canvas or through it by cutting a small hole in the canvas where the post on the rail mount will be and feed post through the hole. See our installation guide for more information.
Pro tip: Choose carefully!
While our grabs can be placed on tubing just about anywhere, care is needed in choosing the right rail mounts for the job. Please consider:
- Sliding side mounts WILL NOT slip around bends in tubing. If you need to place your mounts inside a bend, please choose a kit with split mounts.
- If the grab will be placed either on top of the roof of a dodger/bimini or overhead under the roof, please choose a kit with concave post mounts. This will enable the simplest installation and cleanest lines for your canvas.

used the fittings to install a storage box between my dinghy davits – all the fittings worked perfectly – I did drill out the set screws and installed bolts to prevent failure

High quality and shipped very quickly.
I’d prefer a product that doesn’t exist yet: curved, fixed length grab rails with swiveled, hinged clamps that don’t require committing to drilled holes in my dodger frame, like studded grab rails do. Gemini should make this!
But these side rail mounts seem like they will work well instead, and price and shipping were better than Sailrite. The stainless casting and finish is perfect quality. I was worried they would not slide over curved tubing, but there is just enough clearance to do so with no problem.

Great Service from Gemini
Great service from Gemini from my on-line order placed from Australia. Parts were shipped quickly and lots of feedback from them as to what was happening. DHL air freight let them down with their service though as the 4 -5 days transit turned into 2 weeks as the parts went on a worldwide tour (no reflection on Gemini, they were as frustrated as I was). Very happy with the mounts and will have them and my new solar panels on the yacht in the next week or so.

Nice product
It is a good product and fit correctly on the rail. However check the screw threads one did not seat completely but that was a small problem.
