Bimini conversion kits
Everything you need to go strapless today
It’s your bimini. Just better.
Eliminating those pesky straps would clear deck space, open your cockpit and give you freedom to move, fish and access more of your boat more easily. Winches would be clear, companionways open.
Enter the strapless bimini.
Struts, not straps, push open the frame and hold it firm until you take it down, giving you perfectly-tensioned canvas every time with nothing to adjust (and no pins, straps or hardware to lose).

Upgrade your canvas – we’ll make it easy.
Our DIY bimini conversion kit transforms the bimini you already have into a sleek strapless version quickly and easily.
You want:
- Sun protection that doesn’t compromise
- Clean, smart styling for your boat with maximum space on board with minimum fuss
- Great value
With our conversion kit you get:
- 2 x patented GemLock folding struts (available in 3′ or 6′ lengths, just cut to size and install)
- 4 x rail mounts (your choice of our sliding OR split side mounts)
- 4 x eye ends in the same size as your chosen tubing
- All kits are priced at a discount on buying the components separately
Kits are available with 7/8” (22mm) or 1” (25mm) tubing. All components are made from marine-grade 316 stainless steel for years of trouble-free use.
Suitable for all kinds of boats, if you have a bimini, it’s time to go strapless. One kit will convert your bimini.

Can I convert the bimini on my power boat to strapless?
Yes you can, but the system is not designed to bear the heavy loads generated when travelling at speed. A few extra steps will help keep you safe.
We strongly advise folding up frames while underway (or trailering on the road). This prevents damage to your canvas, hardware, deck, etc. Our canvas shop regularly makes repairs for customers who regret trying to leave a bimini up while underway or on the road. The strapless system makes taking down canvas very quick and simple because it is so easy to deploy.
If you cannot take down the canvas while travelling at speed, please take the following precautions when installing your strapless bimini:
- Use a pair of forward straps to control the load on the forward cantilevered edge and prevent it flying up (and breaking/tearing components). These can be removed when the boat slows.
- Any set screws in the frame’s lower connections should be replaced with screws mounted through the eye end and into the tubing to make the fittings secure.
- Secure the deck mounts with through-bolts (not simply screws into the fiberglass).

(Concave fork mount)
I’ve just received my rail mount and it seems to have excellent quality. I’m very happy with the purchase, customer service and speed for international shipment.
Response from Gemini Marine Products
We’re so happy to hear from you! Thank you for your interest in our products and happy sailing.
Concave post rails
Purchased 4 concave post rails to use in mounting 4 x 175 watt flexible solar panels to the Bimini frame on my 40.5 Hunter Legend. Panels will be supported by a frame of 7/8″ 316 stainless tubing joined by 90 deg corner fittings and T Fittings along the two interior rails all in 316 stainless. Used your drill guide Pro to mount the posts to the Bimini and the solar frame rails to the posts. Had to use a slightly longer bolt than one supplied with the posts to reach through the 7/8″ stainless tubing but all is secured and the panels are making power for both the 2 x 8D AGM house batteries and the AGM start battery. Thanks for the prompt service on my order delivery.
Response from Gemini Marine Products
You are most welcome. We’re so glad to make things a little easier for you.
Drill Steady Pro
Great piece of kit, worked as described. Great for initial hole drilling and also as a pilot hole for a larger bit if a bigger hole is required.
Response from Gemini Marine Products
Yeah it’s a handy little thing, isn’t it? We’re glad you like it.
